# It’s time for West Ham to offload Manuel Lanzini – here’s why

Manuel Lanzini is enduring a torrid season and we believe that it is time for West Ham United to try and offload him.

The Argentine has failed to score a single goal so far this season in 20 appearances and has only provided three assists ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manuel-lanzini/leistungsdaten/spieler/135853)), which frankly, isn’t good enough for the Premier League.

He’s had his fair share of injury problems, [missing 38 matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manuel-lanzini/verletzungen/spieler/135853) over the last two seasons, which we believe could be playing a part in his poor form.

However, he’s a mere passenger in the squad at the moment and that’s what the team can’t afford to have, especially if they want to start rising up the league table each year.

Lanzini is earning £70,000 a week at West Ham, according to [data website Spotrac](https://www.spotrac.com/epl/west-ham-united-f.c/payroll/), and to be getting that sort of money, we feel he needs to be contributing a lot more.

The playmaker is taking up valuable space on the wage bill and because he’s still only 27, the Hammers may be able to cash in on him now before his value continues to plummet.

He’s currently valued at [£18m by Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manuel-lanzini/profil/spieler/135853) but even if an offer slightly below that is made for him, we feel the club should accept it without hesitation.

[Many fans](https://readwestham.com/2020/03/03/these-west-ham-fans-want-their-club-to-sell-manuel-lanzini-this-summer/) are also fed up of Lanzini’s displays and feel that he isn’t adding anything of value to the squad.

Additionally, there doesn’t seem to be a need for Lanzini anymore because the club have Pablo Fornals, who has recently [been given starts](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pablo-fornals/leistungsdaten/spieler/357885) by manager David Moyes.

Furthermore, if they sign Tomas Soucek on a permanent basis, then Lanzini could fall further down the pecking order so we believe that it could be time for the club to let the attacking midfielder go.
