Former Leeds United and Manchester City defender Danny Mills has criticised Sebastien Haller and we believe he is right to do so.
The pundit feels that the Frenchman has not lived up to expectations at West Ham United this season and believes he should be finishing off his chances.
As quoted on Football Insider, Mills said:
It has been a shame because he is an outstanding player with a fabulous goalscoring record in Germany.
The fight and the spirit is there for West Ham and that looks good but when you are dominating a game you expect your number one centre-forward to start putting the ball in the back of the net and when he does not, you are like, ‘Come on!’
Considering the way that he started he has been disappointing this season.
We agree.
Haller scored 20 times in all competitions for Eintracht Frankfurt last season so we feel many could have been expecting a similar return this campaign after his £45m move, but he only has seven goals for the Hammers (Transfermarkt).
Furthermore, as stated on the Premier League’s official website, Haller has missed five big chances in the league this season and that could prove to be costly in May as the club looks to avoid relegation.
He also only has 48% shooting accuracy, which could show that he is lacking in confidence at the moment, further proving Mills’ verdict that he has endured a disappointing season so far.
These statistics go some way to proving that Mills is right to criticise the striker because he is not putting up the numbers that are required for a successful Premier League forward.
