# West Ham fans send positive messages to Antonio after Arsenal defeat

Michail Antonio could have had his name on the scoresheet during the [defeat to Arsenal](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51685402) but despite this, many West Ham United fans have sent him positive messages [on Twitter.](https://twitter.com/Michailantonio/status/1236364741855059970)

As stated on [BBC Sport](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51685402), the Englishman was a nuisance for the Arsenal defence last Saturday, with his pace and strength wreaking havoc at the Emirates Stadium.

The perfect example of this came in the first half, as Antonio flicked the ball beyond defender Pablo Mari and burst past forward on the right flank.

Antonio’s eventual cutback was behind Sebastien Haller and the move broke down, but his desire to get forward was clearly causing Arsenal problems.

The forward had 52 touches of the ball against the Gunners, the most in the entire West Ham team ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1376226/LiveStatistics/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Arsenal-West-Ham)), which shows the impact he was having on the match.

He had a few chances to score, but Bernd Leno did well to stop some whilst others can be credited to poor finishing.

Despite all this, many West Ham fans [on Twitter](https://twitter.com/Michailantonio/status/1236364741855059970) have sent motivational messages to Antonio, which was lovely to see.
