# Hammers fans furious with late substitution from Moyes

David Moyes made his [first substitution](https://twitter.com/WestHam/status/1236330500962295808) against Arsenal last Saturday in the 80th minute and many of the club’s fans were disgusted with that decision.

The Hammers contested well against Mikel Arteta’s Gunners at the Emirates Stadium, but many fans feel that the team should have been freshened up much earlier than it was.

Moyes’ team went on to lose the match[1-0](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51685402)after substitute Alexandre Lacazette struck the winner, with help from VAR.

Captain Mark Noble [was the man sacrificed](https://twitter.com/WestHam/status/1236330500962295808) with 10 minutes to go as Tomas Soucek, who recently returned from injury, came on in his place.

Soucek was injured during the 3-2 defeat to Liverpool last month and after being [expected to miss three weeks](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51633935), the [January arrival](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51285153) made his comeback quicker than expected.

Many West Ham fans[on Twitter](https://twitter.com/WestHam/status/1236330500962295808) have hit out angrily at Moyes for his late substitution and they feel that it cost them a positive result.
