# West Ham fans don’t think Fornals can be as good as Payet for the club

Many West Ham United fans don’t feel that current player Pablo Fornals can ever reach the heights that Dimitri Payet did for the club.

Fornals played from the start in the club’s latest Premier League encounter against Southampton and [registered two assists](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51595061), helping the team to a [3-1 victory.](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51595061)

The three points also lifted the Hammers[out of the relegation zone](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) and his display resulted in[one West Ham fan account on Twitter](https://twitter.com/COYIrons_com/status/1235293879190028288) to pose a controversial question.

Could Fornals ever get as good as Payet?

As reported on the[Premier League’s official website](https://www.premierleague.com/players/5586/Dimitri-Payet/stats), the Frenchman scored 11 times and provided 18 assists in 48 top-flight appearances, before leaving to [return to Ligue 1 in January 2017.](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/01/29/west-ham-agree-sell-dimitri-payet-marseille-25-million/)

Payet scored some [wonderful free-kicks](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJbDK1i27Ss) during his time with the London club and had the ability to do something special out of nothing, which could be why many of these fans [on Twitter](https://twitter.com/COYIrons_com/status/1235293879190028288) feel that Fornals will never get to his level.
