Brentford striker Ollie Watkins has revealed that it is his dream to play for Arsenal, which we feel should disappoint West Ham United fans.
The Championship striker has recently been linked with a summer move to the Hammers and many of the club’s fans also seem keen to have the striker at the London Stadium.
However, speaking at the London Football Awards on Thursday evening, Watkins said:
That’s the dream to play for Arsenal one day, but you know, it’s a longshot.
But why should West Ham fans be disappointed by this statement?
Mainly because Arsenal is a direct rival to the Hammers, so a player dreaming of playing for the Gunners could be unlikely to sign for their city rivals.
His words could lessen the chances of him signing for David Moyes’ side, which would definitely be a disappointment because of his great scoring record.
The 24-year-old has 22 goals in the Championship this season and was named as the EFL Player of the Year this season, as reported by the Evening Standard.
After his open desire to play at the Emirates, West Ham’s board and fans may now not want to see Watkins in the famous claret and blue shirt, but it will certainly interest Arsenal fans.
