# Tierney returning to training shouldn’t affect West Ham this weekend

Arsenal have been handed a big fitness boost as Kieran Tierney has returned to full training, as reported on the [Gunner’s official website,](https://www.arsenal.com/news/team-news-torreira-tierney-kolasinac) but this news shouldn’t concern West Ham United.

The full-back has worked his way back to full fitness after missing more than three months with a shoulder injury, as reported on [football.london](https://www.football.london/arsenal-fc/news/arsenal-deliver-kieran-tierney-update-17866202).

The Scottish international [suffered the problem](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/breaking-kieran-tierney-forced-injured-21061025) earlier this season against the Hammers, and his return to fitness should not be a problem for David Moyes’ side this weekend. Why?

Because Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is unlikely to bring him straight back into his starting XI.

After being out for such a long time, Tierney may need to be given cameo appearances from the bench to get back into the rhythm of playing.

Furthermore, the impressive form of Bukayo Saka at left-back means that the youngster is expected to keep his place in the team.

The 18-year-old has scored three times and registered nine assists in all competitions for the Gunners this season ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/bukayo-saka/leistungsdaten/spieler/433177)), making him an obvious danger to the Hammers.

Tierney has also proven that he can be dangerous going forward, providing [two assists in 12 matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kieran-tierney/leistungsdaten/spieler/300716) across all competitions since moving to London.

Saka, who is originally a winger, seems to be a lot more attack-minded, as seen through his attacking statistics, which means that [new arrival](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51323082) Jarrod Bowen may need to do a lot of defensive work, which might not be ideal for him or the team.

Bowen is at his best when in front of goal, as shown during the last league match, where he scored the opening goal of the[3-1 win](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51595061) over Southampton.
