West Ham’s potential move for Lozano could spell trouble for Anderson

West Ham’s potential move for Lozano could spell trouble for Anderson

According to a report on Calciomercato, West Ham United are thinking about making a move for Hirving Lozano.

As stated in the report, the Napoli winger is also being watched by fellow Premier League clubs Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton.

The winger only joined Napoli from PSV Eindhoven last summer and his current deal expires in 2024.

However, if the Hammers do make a move for him, it could be bad news for current star Felipe Anderson. Why?

Because Lozano primarily operates on the left flank, the same side that Anderson prefers and the Mexican has a much better goalscoring record than the former Lazio man.

The 24-year-old has scored an impressive 84 club career goals already, whilst 26-year-old Anderson only has 52 goals to his name in club football.

Furthermore, Anderson has recently lost his place in the West Ham team.

The winger has only scored one league goal this season which has resulted in manager David Moyes dropping him to the bench for a few matches, including last weekend’s victory over Southampton.

The Brazilian was also recently left on the bench for the defeat to Manchester City (Transfermarkt).

Staying in the Premier League could prove to be a big factor in this transfer decision.

Lozano is playing in the Champions League for Napoli this season and to stand any chance of getting him, we believe the Hammers must avoid relegation.

If Lozano does arrive, we feel as if Anderson may need to look elsewhere to get regular football because of the Mexican’s superior record and younger age.
