# Hammers fans want to see Xande Silva involved in the first team

Many West Ham United fans want to see youngster Xande Silva involved with the first-team squad soon.

The Hammers travel to north London to face Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.

Silva [scored again](https://twitter.com/WestHam/status/1234580417191301128) for West Ham’s U23 side in the Premier League 2 this week and some fans believe he’s ready to make the step into the senior squad.

The 22-year-old has not featured for the first-team yet this season and has not even been in a match-day squad yet ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/xande-silva/leistungsdaten/spieler/258011)).

This could be partly because of his long-term absence as he missed more than six months after undergoing [emergency surgery](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2019/august/16-august/xande-silva-im-feeling-stronger-every-day) on his stomach last summer.

He’s returned to the pitch in [fine goalscoring form](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/xande-silva/leistungsdaten/spieler/258011), netting against Sunderland, Stoke City and now also Norwich City.

His current deal with the club expires at the end of next season ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/xande-silva/leistungsdaten/spieler/258011)) and many of these fans[on Twitter](https://twitter.com/WestHam/status/1234580417191301128) want him to break into the first-team soon.
