West Ham were interested in signing Wolves attacker Jota

Respected West Ham United insider ExWHUemployee has revealed on Twitter that the Hammers looked at Diogo Jota a number of times before the attacker eventually joined Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Portuguese forward joined Wolves in January 2018 from Spanish La Liga giants Atletico Madrid after impressing during an initial loan deal at the club.

The 24-year-old is one of the most in-form players in the Premier League at the moment and ExWHUemployee claims that the club monitored him very closely, without any formal offer being reported.

Jota has three goals and one assist in his last two league matches for Wolves and we feel that he could have been a great addition to the West Ham squad, purely because of his attacking threat.

The Portugal star has 70 goals in his club career so far (Transfermarkt) and after Dimitri Payet left in January 2017, Jota could have been the ideal replacement for the Frenchman at the London Stadium.

Luckily, the decision to not make an official bid for Jota hasn’t really directly haunted the Hammers, because in three career appearances against the London club, he has zero goals and just one assist.

However, the Hammers do host Wolves later this month, so those numbers could change drastically pretty soon.
