# West Ham fans confused by Moyes’ remarks about Fornals

David Moyes’ latest comments about Pablo Fornals have left many of the club’s fans pretty confused.

The Spaniard was [named in the starting line-up](https://twitter.com/WestHam/status/1233754030595301376) for the 3-1 Premier League [victory](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51595061) over Southampton at the London Stadium last Saturday.

Fornals provided[two assists](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51595061) during the victory and has [been praised](https://twitter.com/westhamtransfer/status/1233804395621625857) by many supporters for his display.

However, despite acknowledging his assists, [Moyes believes](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/david-moyes-press-conference-live-17838858) that his display could have been even better if he made some better passes at certain times in the match.

The manager’s verdict has confused many fans because [they feel](https://twitter.com/connoisseur_bol/status/1234194392132521984)that after his display, he should be one of the first names on the teamsheet.

The playmaker hasn’t been the given the most opportunities by Moyes since he took over, with many of his appearances under him coming from the bench ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pablo-fornals/leistungsdaten/spieler/357885))

Fornals linked up particularly well with Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio and Sebastien Haller during the win and these fans [on Twitter](https://twitter.com/whufc_news/status/1234066794572320768) feel that Moyes’ remarks come across as negative.

> Twitter: @whufc\_news Why does he hate him sm (@gabeswhu)

> Twitter: @whufc\_news He never has anything fully positive to say about him. Even positives sound and turn negative. (@WestHamNews\_\_\_)

> Twitter: @whufc\_news Why is it even when he’s complimenting he still has to make it sounds incredibly negative. (@sam\_puncher)

> Twitter: @whufc\_news Jeez what does he have to do … he was very good (@goodingsusan1)

> Twitter: @whufc\_news @LaminMbaye Is that a bit contradictory. He’s two assist EXCEPTIONAL work rate FANTASTIC but he was just Good ![🤣](https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/12.0.0-1/svg/1f923.svg) (@hammerpat2020)

> Twitter: @whufc\_news Would he say that about Lanzini or Anderson, I don’t think so (@Jamin\_78)

> Twitter: @whufc\_news Moyes stumbling on the team/formation we all knew he should’ve been playing when he first got the job. Clueless bloke. (@kjohno10)
