# Bowen’s praised heavily by West Ham fans after impressive performance

Many West Ham United fans have praised Jarrod Bowen after his first start and goal for the club against Southampton over the weekend.

The Hammers [completed the signing](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51323082) of Bowen in the January transfer window, [fighting off interest](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11706/11921829/jarrod-bowen-crystal-palace-in-talks-to-sign-hull-midfielder) from fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace.

Fast forward a month and the winger has netted his first goal for the Irons in what was his first league start.

Bowen was [named in the starting line-up](https://twitter.com/WestHam/status/1233754030595301376) for the Hammers by David Moyes last Saturday and didn’t take long to justify the decision.

As reported on [BBC Sport,](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51595061) Bowen was celebrating his first top-flight goal after only 15 minutes of the encounter at the London Stadium.

The 23-year-old was voted as the Man of the Match and after the game,[he expressed his delight](https://twitter.com/WestHam/status/1233823904319275014) at scoring, highlighting his desire to get many more.

These West Ham fans reacted to the video message [on Twitter](https://twitter.com/WestHam/status/1233823904319275014) by praising the attacker’s display, which helped the club [climb out of the relegation zone](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) on goal difference.
