Explained: The reason why Guardiola won’t be speaking to the press ahead of West Ham clash

Man City face West Ham in their rearranged fixture this Wednesday, but the build-up to the game will be slightly different.

The original fixture between the two sides was postponed due to the conditions surrounding the Etihad Stadium thanks to Storm Ciara.

This led to the Premier League suggesting a new date for the game, with this Wednesday being agreed on by all parties.

However, the build-up to the game will see no press conferences take place, which means that City boss Pep Guardiola will not speak to the press in what has been a big week for his side.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, this is because press conferences were held before the postponed fixture, meaning that both sides have no obligation to hold another press conference before the two clubs face off on Wednesday.

UEFA this week banned Manchester City from European competitions for two seasons, after City were accused of breaking the financial fair play rules put in place.

City are set to appeal the ban, but the threat of being banned from the Champions League for the next two seasons still hangs over them.
