# Anderlecht sporting director reveals he regrets signing former West Ham man Nasri

Anderlecht sporting director Michael Verschueren has revealed that he regrets signing former West Ham midfielder Samir Nasri after his release from the club, as per [HLN](https://www.hln.be/sport/voetbal/belgisch-voetbal/jupiler-pro-league/verschueren-als-ik-had-geweten-dat-nasri-zo-vaak-geblesseerd-zou-zijn-hadden-we-hem-niet-gehaald~a6193e02/).

The Frenchman joined West Ham last January after his FIFA suspension expired, but failed to do much at all in East London.

Nasri picked up two assists in six games but failed to score during his time at the London Stadium, as per [Transfermarkt](https://www.hln.be/sport/voetbal/belgisch-voetbal/jupiler-pro-league/verschueren-als-ik-had-geweten-dat-nasri-zo-vaak-geblesseerd-zou-zijn-hadden-we-hem-niet-gehaald~a6193e02/).

But since then, he has signed for Anderlecht, bagging two goals and zero assists in eight appearances.

Speaking to [HLN,](https://www.hln.be/sport/voetbal/belgisch-voetbal/jupiler-pro-league/verschueren-als-ik-had-geweten-dat-nasri-zo-vaak-geblesseerd-zou-zijn-hadden-we-hem-niet-gehaald~a6193e02/)Verschueren revealed that he may have decided against signing Nasri if he knew how he would turn out in Belgium.

> If I had to do it again, would we have signed Samir Nasri? With what we know now, no.

### Read West Ham’s verdict

The Nasri experiment didn’t really work at West Ham, so it is hard to see what Anderlecht saw in him to think he would be a quality addition to their side.

Yes, he is an international and he has a lot of experience across Europe with the [likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Sevilla](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/samir-nasri/profil/spieler/18935), but that was now a long time ago.

He is now 32 years old, and his time at West Ham showed that a lot of his previous qualities simply aren’t there anymore.

His two assists were the only thing of note he did for the Hammers with the rest of his time at the club being very forgettable.

Therefore, it comes as no surprise to see the Anderlecht sporting director say that he may now regret signing Nasri.
