# Sheffield Utd agree deal for West Ham target Berge

Sheffield United have agreed on a deal with West Ham United target Sander Berge, according to [European journalist Kristof Terreur](https://twitter.com/hlninengeland/status/1222794480836841474?s=21).

The Norway international has been [linked with a move](https://readwestham.com/2020/01/03/west-ham-ready-to-battle-liverpool-for-genks-sander-berge/) to the Hammers this month but it seems Sheffield United have won the race for his signature.

Berge was [pictured alongside Blades’ manager Chris Wilder](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7946671/Genk-star-Sander-Berge-meets-Sheffield-United-boss-Chris-Wilder-ahead-record-25million-move.html) today as he undergoes his medical at the club’s training ground.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

The Hammers have [signed midfielder Tomas Soucek](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/january/29-january/west-ham-united-complete-loan-signing-czech-midfielder-tomas) on loan until the end of the season and will have the option to make the move permanent in the summer transfer window.

As reported on [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11683/11921471/sander-berge-sheffield-united-close-to-agreeing-club-record-deal-for-genk-midfielder), Berge is one of the top young talents in Europe and we believe that the Hammers should have been more direct in their approach for him.

Despite West Ham’s interest in the 21-year-old, the [club is understood to not have made a bid for his services.](https://readwestham.com/2020/01/09/west-ham-yet-to-submit-bid-for-sander-berge/)

However, we’re happy with having Soucek at the club and hope that he can provide the spark that the club needs to avoid relegation to the Championship this season.
