# West Ham’s late Kristensen offer rejected

West Ham have seen an offer for RB Salzburg right-back Rasmus Kristensen rejected as they search for a final signing in the winter transfer window.

David Moyes revealed in his press conference yesterday that a [‘firm bid’](https://www.claretandhugh.info/hammers-have-firm-bid-for-another-player/) had been submitted for a mystery target.

According to [Claret & Hugh](https://www.claretandhugh.info/hammers-bid-for-right-back-rejected/), the Denmark Under-21 international is that target but the Hammers have been pushed back in their late pursuit.

The report claims West Ham have made multiple enquiries about a number of right-backs ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Aged just 22, Kristensen already has top-level experience under his belt, winning the Eredivisie with Ajax last season.

He then joined Salzburg in a transfer worth €5million last summer and featured in each of their six Champions League games this term.

[In European competition, he averaged 3.3 tackles and 3.2 clearances per game in 533 minutes.](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/302812/Show/Rasmus-Kristensen)

Ryan Fredericks, on the other hand, [has averaged 3.2 tackles but just 2.1 clearances per game in 1538 minutes of Premier League football this term](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/83554/Show/Ryan-Fredericks).

I believe the jury is well and truly still out on whether the 27-year-old is good enough to be a regular starter for West Ham.

He almost certainly needs competition regardless, with [Pablo Zabaleta nearing the end of his stint at the club](https://www.hammers.news/transfer-news/pablo-zabaleta-says-this-will-be-his-last-season-in-the-premier-league/) and [Fredericks’ own injury problems arising](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/january/06-january/ryan-fredericks-injury-update).

Overall, I think Kristensen would pose as a good signing for West Ham, however, their interest has probably been registered too late.
