# West Ham join Leeds in pursuit of Rangers defender Goldson

West Ham United have joined the race for the signature of Rangers centre-back Connor Goldson, according to a report on [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-west-ham-set-sights-on-rangers-ace-now-valued-at-5m/).

The report reveals that the Hammers are plotting a summer move for the defender, who has been the[subject of interest from Championship side Leeds United recently.](https://www.footballinsider247.com/leeds-united-join-race-to-sign-goldson/)

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard [recently confirmed](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1229417/rangers-transfer-news-steven-gerrard-connor-goldson-leeds-united) that the Scottish club will not be considering any offers for him at the moment and that he is not for sale now.

However, the London club are already planning ahead and have listed Goldson as a potential target in the summer.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Gerrard is a huge admirer of Goldson and has [labelled him a “leader”](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45164383) previously.

With Rangers currently in a tight title race, there’s no chance they’ll let Goldson leave, but with only two and half years remaining on his current deal, a move in the summer could open up.

The 27-year-old has[played 37 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/connor-goldson/leistungsdaten/spieler/163656) in all competitions this season and we feel that he could be a good long-term addition to the Hammers squad because of his age.

Seeing the club planning for the future is also good to see, but the current mess needs to be cleared for the future to be bright.
