# Lampard admits West Ham target Giroud could leave Chelsea this month

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has admitted that striker Olivier Giroud could leave the club this month, as reported on [Football London](https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/fixtures-results/chelsea-frank-lampard-transfers-barkley-17586525).

West Ham United are [reportedly interested](https://readwestham.com/2019/11/04/west-ham-eyeing-up-january-move-for-giroud/) in signing the experienced forward this month.

The Frenchman has also been closely linked with a move to Italian side Inter Milan, as reported on the [Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/olivier-giroud-inter-milan-medical-chelsea-transfer-news-a4334796.html).

Lampard said in his press conference on Friday:

> Olivier Giroud, we all know there may be something that can happen. The good thing about Oli is that he is so experienced.

> I have a good relationship with him as does the club so again, if all circumstances are right it could happen. Whilst it is not, he is our player.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Lampard’s comments come as a boost for the Hammers because they’re currently on the prowl for a forward.

Many West Ham fans [are not keen](https://readwestham.com/2019/11/09/please-dont-west-ham-fans-react-to-alleged-interest-in-giroud/) on the club signing Giroud this month because they prefer to have someone with pace.

However, although we agree with that point, we also feel that he would be a good signing for the club because of his goal-scoring record in the top flight.

The 33-year-old has got his name on the scoresheet a [total of 78 goals in the Premier League](https://www.premierleague.com/players/4481/Olivier-Giroud/stats?co=1&se=210%20) and despite not being the quickest, he is a deadly finisher, which is what the Hammers need at the moment.
