# Frank Lampard reveals that Ross Barkley will stay at Chelsea despite West Ham interest

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has handed West Ham a transfer blow, after revealing that midfielder Ross Barkley will not be leaving the club this January, as per [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/11910827/lampard-barkley-staying-at-chelsea).

Speaking ahead of the clash with Newcastle United this weekend, Lampard revealed that the midfielder won’t be leaving Chelsea, despite links with a loan deal to West Ham.

Speaking to [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/11910827/lampard-barkley-staying-at-chelsea), Lampard revealed:

> There’s no talk here of Ross Barkley going anywhere; he’s our player. He’s played the last couple of games and done very well. I’ve got a lot of faith in Ross.

> I’m very happy with him.

### Read West Ham’s verdict

This is obviously a blow to West Ham’s chances of signing Barkley.

The midfielder has made just [11 appearances in all competitions](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ross-barkley/leistungsdaten/spieler/131978) this season for the Blues and looks very much like he is out of Frank Lampard’s plans.

Surely a move to West Ham would be the best for both sides, offering Barkley more game time and potentially a spot in Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2020 side.

However, Lampard obviously doesn’t feel this way, which would potentially stop any potential deal going through.
