# Moyes happy that Fabianski layoff is only a few weeks

West Ham United manager David Moyes has [expressed his delight](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/news/west-ham-injury-news-everton-17578992) that goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is only sidelined for a couple of weeks.

The shot-stopper [went down early in the first half](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51072332) of last week’s Premier League encounter with Sheffield United as he hurt his hip after attempting a goal kick.

However, after further scans on the injury, [the club confirmed](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/january/13-january/lukasz-fabianski-injury-update) that there was no major damage and that he should be back onto the pitch in a few weeks.

As quoted on [Football London](https://www.football.london/west-ham-united-fc/news/west-ham-injury-news-everton-17578992), Moyes said:

> It’s great news to find out that he’s only out for a few weeks.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Understandably,[West Ham fans were distraught](https://readwestham.com/2020/01/10/west-ham-fans-distraught-after-fabianski-injury/) after the goalkeeper limped off the field last week but this certainly is a boost for the club.

Why? Because he is one of the best shot-stoppers in the Premier League, [proven by the fact that he made the most saves](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/saves) (148) in the entire top-flight in the 2018/19 season.

The Hammers have[recruited former goalkeeper Darren Randolph](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51117240) from Middlesbrough as some extra cover, but we feel that when Fabianski is back and at his best, nobody can take the number one position from him.
