Moyes admits West Ham are not close to signing anyone yet

West Ham United manager David Moyes has admitted that the Premier League club are “not necessarily close” to confirming a new signing, as reported on the official club website.

The Hammers were closely linked with a move for Gedson Fernandes, but the midfielder opted to sign for London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, as reported on Sky Sports.

When speaking in his pre-Everton press conference, Moyes said:

I think the introduction of someone from somewhere else can take a bit more time.

We’re not necessarily close [to confirming anything] but we’re working on one or two things at the moment.

If they’re right, then hopefully we’re able to do it.

West Ham completed the signing of Darren Randolph earlier this week but Hammers fans want to see another player arrive soon, so this update will come as a disappointment.

West Ham need to make some statement signings as a relegation battle looms and the latest player to be linked with the hammers is Chelsea’s Ross Barkley.

We feel that if Moyes is to help the Hammers stay in the top-flight, then he needs to make two good quality signings because of the current injury issues at the club.
