# West Ham target Samatta ‘on his way’ to England

West Ham United transfer target Mbwana Samatta is ‘on his way’ to England, according to a report on [HLN](https://www.hln.be/de-krant/samatta-op-weg-naar-engeland~ad04fad5/?referer=http%3A%2F%2Fsportwitness.co.uk%2F).

The Genk striker has been [linked with a move to the Hammers](https://readwestham.com/2019/11/07/west-ham-interested-in-genks-samatta/) since November after he impressed during his side’s UEFA Champions League clash with Liverpool.

The report also confirms that the Tanzanian international has been monitored closely by Norwich City, Aston Villa and Brighton.

The 27-year-old has [netted seven times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mbwana-samatta/leistungsdaten/spieler/182201) in the Belgian top flight this season and scored three times in the Champions League group stages.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

This is potentially exciting news for West Ham because they’ve been [monitoring the player](https://readwestham.com/2018/10/08/west-ham-plotting-move-for-prolific-striker-mbwana-samatta/)for a couple of months.

However, the [report](https://www.hln.be/de-krant/samatta-op-weg-naar-engeland~ad04fad5/?referer=http%3A%2F%2Fsportwitness.co.uk%2F)doesn’t confirm if he’s definitely coming to the Hammers, so we believe that fans should not get their hopes up just yet.

As reported on the [Northern Echo](https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/18021645.newcastle-interested-genk-striker-mbwana-samatta/), Samatta is understood to have a £10m release clause in his current contract.

One thing is certain, the Hammers need to ensure they act quickly because of the number of clubs interested in securing his signature.
