# West Ham target Giroud closes in on Inter Milan switch

West Ham United target Olivier Giroud is closing in on a move to Italian giants Inter Milan, according to a report on the [Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/olivier-giroud-inter-milan-medical-chelsea-transfer-news-a4334796.html).

The report states that Inter are hoping to hand Giroud his medical this weekend ahead of the proposed transfer from Chelsea for £8.5m.

The Hammers have been[linked with a move](https://readwestham.com/2019/11/04/west-ham-eyeing-up-january-move-for-giroud/) for the Frenchman who has fallen heavily out of favour at Stamford Bridge.

The striker has only [made five appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/olivier-giroud/leistungsdaten/spieler/82442) in the Premier League this season.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

The Hammers are on the market for a striker and we feel this represents a blow to them because Giroud is an experienced top-flight striker.

The 33-year-old has netted a [total of 78 goals in the Premier League](https://www.premierleague.com/players/4481/Olivier-Giroud/stats?co=1&se=210%20) and I felt that a short-term loan deal until the end of the season would be good business because of his obvious goal threat.

However, [most West Ham fans don’t want Giroud](https://readwestham.com/2019/11/09/please-dont-west-ham-fans-react-to-alleged-interest-in-giroud/) at the London Stadium and it looks like their wish might just be fulfilled.
