# West Ham complete signing of Darren Randolph

West Ham United have finally [announced](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/january/15-january/darren-randolph-returns-west-ham-united) the signing of Middlesbrough goalkeeper Darren Randolph for an undisclosed fee.

The Republic of Ireland international left East London for £5million in 2017, but returns on a three-and-a-half-year contract.

Randolph has aged like a fine wine on Teeside, being named [Middlesbrough’s Player of the Year](https://www.mfc.co.uk/news/darren-randolph-double-winner-at-player-of-the-year-awards) and in the [Championship PFA Team of the Year](https://www.thepfa.com/news/2019/4/24/championship-team-of-the-year) in 2019.

Speaking to the [official club website](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/january/15-january/darren-randolph-returns-west-ham-united), Randolph expressed his joy at returning to the London Stadium:

> I’m delighted to be back at West Ham United. It’s a great feeling to be back in the Premier League with such a fantastic club, and I can’t wait to get started.

The 32-year-old has [earned 42 international caps and made 42 appearances for West Ham](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/darren-randolph/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/51321) from 2015 to 2017 under Slaven Bilic.

With Lukasz Fabianski [out injured again](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/january/13-january/lukasz-fabianski-injury-update), Randolph, if fit himself, has a good chance of starting against Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton this weekend.
