Napoli contact Masuaku over potential January transfer

There has been plenty of talk surrounding West Ham United’s ins during the January transfer window, but there could still be some outs too.

According to Foot Mercato, Napoli are eyeing a new left-back this month and Arthur Masuaku is very much on their radar.

They claim the Serie A club have contacted Masuaku’s representatives to discuss the possibility of a move before the transfer deadline.

The DR Congo international only penned a new five-year deal until 2024 back in July but has been limited to just 10 Premier League appearances this season.

READ WEST HAM VERDICT

It would be more confusing than anything to see West Ham let Masuaku leave just six months after signing such a big contract.

In my opinion, the 26-year-old is great to watch going forward but defensively he’s still suspect, which is why Aaron Cresswell has been preferred at times this term.

David Moyes has been using him as the left-wing-back with more freedom going forward since switching to three-at-the-back though.

I think, despite such heavyweight interest, Masuaku will probably stay at the London Stadium until at least the summer.

In our opinion, the Hammers need to strengthen their squad this month, not significantly weaken it by losing who I believe is the best full-back, or wing-back, Moyes has.
