# Antonio ruled out of Sheffield United clash

West Ham United attacker Michail Antonio has been ruled out of the Premier League encounter with Sheffield United, as confirmed on the [official club website](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/january/09-january/team-news-moyes-offers-update-squad-ahead-blades-clash).

Manager David Moyes confirmed that Antonio is suffering from a hamstring problem and will not recover in time for Friday night’s clash.

As quoted on the website, he said:

> Michail Antonio is still feeling his hamstring. He is not available for the game.

> We were hoping to have him back but he’s not quite ready yet.

### READ WEST HAM VERDICT

Having Antonio for the match against the Blades would have been a big boost for the Hammers because of the incredible [defensive record](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) that Chris Wilder’s men boast.

Antonio’s injury issues are becoming [more of a concern](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michail-antonio/verletzungen/spieler/104124)and could hurt the club in the long-term if he keeps picking up problems.

Moyes and West Ham have more than enough quality to get a positive result without Antonio but we hope the problem isn’t serious enough to keep him out for a lengthy period, especially because of the [challenging run of fixtures](https://www.whufc.com/fixtures/first-team/fixtures-and-results) coming up.
