West Ham fans angry at Chelsea’s £40m valuation of Diop

Chelsea are plotting a £40m swoop for West Ham United centre-back Issa Diop, according to a report on the Express.

The Hammers signed Diop in the summer of 2018 from Ligue 1 side Toulouse for £22m and he has gone on to make 48 Premier League appearances for the club.

The rumours have intensified in recent days and these West Ham fans find it hard to believe that the Blues value him at £40m.

Diop is one of the highest-rated players at West Ham and despite struggling for form under Manuel Pellegrini, there’s hope that he can get back to his best under the management of David Moyes.

Manchester United were heavily linked with a move for the centre-back last summer and now the links have started again, but £40m is way under the price that the Hammers will have in mind.

In June, the London club were reported to have slapped an €84m price tag on Diop so if Chelsea want any chance at a deal, they’ll need to bump up their offer considerably.

Also, judging by the reaction of the fans, letting him leave would not be a popular decision by the club. The player himself has also not made it evident that he wants to leave so for the time being, the chances of Diop leaving can be considered as very low.
