West Ham United are widely expected to sign a new midfielder in the January transfer window and a new name has entered the speculation roundabout.
According to L’Equipe, West Ham United want to sign Angers star Baptiste Santamaria next month but face heavy competition.
The report claims Premier League rivals Everton and Aston Villa are also joined by a number of Italian clubs, with Villa coming back in for him after a failed £8million summer pursuit.
Aged just 24, Santamaria certainly has his best years ahead of him and has already caught the eyes of many in Ligue 1.

The 6ft star would certainly add youth and quality to this ageing West Ham squad and could form a long-term midfield link with Declan Rice.
With Carlos Sanchez and Jack Wilshere expected to leave the London Stadium soon, a new man in the middle of the park is crucial next month.
Other names like Stoke City’s Joe Allen and Genk’s Sander Berge have been linked, but Santamaria could prove to be a bargain at a touted price of just £10million.
It’s going to be an incredibly interesting month ahead if you’re a West Ham fan, with plenty of change expected.
