West Ham ‘firmly’ in race to sign Toure in January
Nantes midfielder Abdoulaye Toure has been catching the eye in Ligue 1 for a while with Burnley long-term admirers, but West Ham United have now in the picture too.
The 25-year-old defensive midfielder was Nantes’ Player of the Year last term and has carried his fine form over into this season.
According to Football Insider, West Ham are ‘firmly’ in the running to sign Toure and are lining up a potential move in the January transfer window.
The reports states that Nantes have agreed to sell Toure to interested parties after reaching an agreement with the player’s agent, Mark McKay.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
From what I’ve heard and watched of Toure, he would bring much-needed tenacity, power and desire to West Ham’s lacklustre midfield options.
Declan Rice is the only quality holding midfield option at Manuel Pellegrini’s disposal at the moment and he’s crying out for a bit of competition.
The report also adds that Toure prefers a move to the Premier League despite interest in Germany and Spain, pointing towards the London Stadium even more.
This could be a fairly straightforward deal for West Ham to complete next month, and boy do they need to complete some deals next month.
