Potts and Keen set to take charge if Pellegrini faces sack

West Ham United are planning to put Steve Potts and Kevin Keen in temporary charge of the club if they lose to Southampton on Saturday.

It’s been widely suggested that a defeat, which would extend West Ham’s torrid run to just one win in 11 Premier League games, will result in Manuel Pellegrini facing the sack.

According to Football Insider, Potts and Keen will be approached to initially take charge whilst the club search for a permanent replacement.

Potts has worked with West Ham’s impressive Under-23s side and Keen the Under-18s this season and the report states they’ll be turned to if a new manager isn’t immediately appointed.

With Pellegrini inevitably on his way out sooner rather than later, regardless of what happens on the south coast this weekend, you’d imagine the club has been sounding out potential replacements.

Considering there are almost two weeks until the Hammers’ next game after the trip to Southampton, the most likely outcome would see the duo just take training in Pellegrini’s absence.

It’s certainly a painful but interesting time to be a West Ham fan and there’s a great sense of hope that a new face in charge can steer the club towards where they need to be.
