Arsenal have stepped up their interest in Carlo Ancelotti following his Napoli departure but aren’t alone, with Everton and West Ham United also monitoring the situation.
Ancelotti was sacked despite Tuesday’s 4-0 win over Genk sending Napoli into Champions League Round of 16, although the club are 7th in Serie A.
According to the Independent, Ancelotti is already in talks with Arsenal and now formal negotiations can commence.
The reports states that the Gunners are joined in their interest by managerless Everton and West Ham though.
Manuel Pellegrini is still manager at the London Stadium, but there are growing concerns that he’s one loss away from losing his job.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
If we’re speaking honestly, West Ham in its current state is a monumental step down from not just the clubs Ancelotti has managed, but Arsenal too.
It really shouldn’t be though…
You can admire the board’s determination to bring a top manager in, bearing in mind to failed attempt to lure Rafa Benitez to East London too, but it seems like Pellegrini’s replacement will be a lot less glamorous.
It would be very interesting to see how Ancelotti fairs with such a huge project like the one on offer at Arsenal though.
