Later this evening, West Ham United and Arsenal will battle in a Premier League clash
These are wo London sides whose fan bases have big expectations for their respective clubs and these clubs aren’t meeting those expectations. Whilst Arsenal have acted and sacked Unai Emery, West Ham look to be sticking with Manuel Pellegrini for the foreseeable future.
Interim manager Freddie Ljungberg will be returning back to West Ham where he enjoyed a brief stint as a player, looking to win his first three points for Arsenal since taking the reigns.
Ahead of the game, here is my combined XI of West Ham United and Arsenal players:
GK - Lukasz Fabianski
For me, he’s still better than Leno, although Leno is a good keeper.
RB - Hector Bellerin
Whilst perhaps on the decline and Maitland-Niles could be a shout here, I’ve given it Bellerin for longevity.
CB - Rob Holding
A hugely underrated centre back in my opinion. This position is really the best of a bad bunch for both sides, in truth.
CB - Issa Diop
Whilst not having a strong season, on pure talent alone, he gets in here.
LB - Kieran Tierney
A quality young player with a massive upside for years to come.
CDM - Declan Rice
Quality player who can get into any quality side. No questions.
CM - Lucas Torreira
Another quality youngster for Arsenal. The team has some decent pieces, and a couple more and a proper manager could see them have a great season.
CM - Felipe Anderson
Another cheeky one slipping him in here, but I genuinely think he is better than Mesut Ozil on current form.
RW - Michail Antonio
A beast, a machine and a real influence, both on and off the pitch.
LW - Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
An unreal talent and an unbelievable goalscorer. Snuck him on the left to make room for the striker.
ST - Alexandre Lacazette
Could he and Aubameyang be the best duo in the league? If you’re talking just as a partnership, maybe.
