# Pellegrini still hopes for top half finish despite poor run

Manuel Pellegrini has revealed he still hopes for a top-half finish despite West Ham’s poor start to the season.

The Hammers have slipped down the table, mainly due to the goalkeeping crisis thanks to Lukasz Fabianski picking up an injury.

Speaking ahead of the clash with Arsenal, Pellegrini revealed that he still has hope that his side can make it to the top half before the end of the season.

Pellegrini said, via the [East London and Essex Guardian](https://www.guardian-series.co.uk/sport/westham/18085562.manuel-pellegrini-still-confident-west-ham-united-can-climb-back-top-half-table/):

> After we beat Chelsea we wanted to beat Wolves, but it’s not easy to beat all the teams away.
>
> I said if we drew against Chelsea and Wolves, that would be two very good results. But that’s just two points, and we have three points.
>
> I am more worried about the points we lost at home against Crystal Palace, Newcastle and Sheffield United. With five points more we could be in eighth position.
>
> We must now focus on the next game and try to beat Arsenal.

The Hammers have been poor so far this season, but it isn’t hard to see how good they can be when all their injured stars return to the fold.

Top half isn’t that far away yet, especially with how tight the table looks so far this season.
