# West Ham ready to sign Turkish goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir

West Ham are ready to sign a replacement for the struggling Roberto, with reports from Turkey suggesting that Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir is a target.

Since Lukaz Fabianski’s injury, West Ham have had an injury crisis in goal, with Roberto being dropped for David Martin over the last few games.

[Aksam](https://www.aksam.com.tr/spor/ingilizlerden-ugurcan-kapismasi-devler-pesine-dustu/haber-1027305) report that sporting director Mario Husillos and goalkeeping coach Xavi Valero have both given the go-ahead for the move.

Scouts were sent to watch the ‘keeper last weekend, with Trabzonspor taking on Galatasaray.

The Hammers are desperate for talent between the sticks, so signing Cakir could be an option in January.

David Martin is doing a stellar job since Roberto was dropped, but it is clear he is no longer a long term solution to the problem.

Fabianski will be returning soon, but West Ham will be looking for a solid backup option, and potentially competition in goal.
