West Ham linked boss Benitez suffers 5-1 defeat as rumours continue

Rafa Benitez has been linked with the post at West Ham as of late, with current manager Manuel Pellegrini very much under pressure.

However, the former Newcastle manager has suffered a big defeat in China, as his side continues to struggle.

Benitez’s Dalian Yifang suffered yet another defeat, this time going down 5-1 to Tianjin Quanjian.

This means that Benitez has only one win in nine in the Chinese Super League, meaning a switch to West Ham may be a welcome one.

Benitez is just one of the names being touted with the job, with David Moyes also linked with a return to the Hammers, as pressure continues to build on current boss Manuel Pellegrini.

The Hammers could look to Benitez to replace Pellegrini, but they shouldn’t pay too much attention to his record in China.

The Spaniard is a superb coach, and this spell is just a blip in an otherwise superb career.

However, they will have to make a big decision over the future of Pellegrini seen.
