Chelsea may have been dealt a major injury blow ahead of hosting West Ham United on Saturday, with Tammy Abraham a doubt.
The 22-year-old striker was stretchered off with a nasty-looking hip problem after falling awkwardly in the second half of last night’s 2-2 draw in Valencia.
Frank Lampard’s side has heavily relied on Abraham for goals this season and will be considerably weaker without him on the pitch.
There’s has been no confirmation of the severity of the injury yet, but it admittedly looked like a bad knock more than anything that will keep him out for a while.
READ WEST HAM VERDICT
If Abraham does miss the Stamford Bridge clash, it’s likely West Ham will have to deal with the threat of Michy Batshuayi instead.
The Blues will also have Olivier Giroud to call upon to provide a different type of quality, so it’d by all means not remove the threat they pose West Ham.
Manuel Pellegrini will be desperate for his side to put in a worthy display, with another defeat potentially seeing him lose his job in the midst of a tough run.
It’s sure to be a hotly-contested game in west London and Abraham’s potential absence is just one of a few interesting storylines.
