# Roy Keane slates West Ham’s Declan Rice after England performance

Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane has led the criticism of West Ham’s Declan Rice during England’s win over Kosovo.

Rice has come under a lot of criticism for his performance in England’s final Euro 2020 qualifier, with many slating the midfielder for a “sub-par” game.

However, speaking before the game, Keane said on ITV that he believes the midfielder has a lot to improve upon if he is to reach his full potential.

> Where he needs to improve, there are plenty of aspects when you think about it.
>
> Over the last few months, he has had a lot of praise, I worked with him when he was with the Ireland squad.
>
> Where does he need to improve, where do you want me to start? His positional play, I don’t think is consistent enough, he doesn’t stay with runners, he’s sloppy in possession.
>
> I can go on. He’s one of those players, a couple of months ago everyone was enjoying him and loved him. He’s one of those players that’s now played his way out of the team because he’s not been consistent for West Ham.

Keane is very forward in his criticism of Rice, something that is not unusual for the former Man United midfielder.

However, Rice could do worse than listen, especially if he is to improve his game going forward.
