Jack Wilshere’s injury-ridden West Ham United career since joining on a free transfer from Arsenal has taken another downward turn following another setback off the pitch.
Manuel Pellegrini confirmed Wilshere’s latest blow in his press conference ahead of this weekend’s game against Newcastle United, cited by the Daily Mail:
Jack has a small problem, he is not 100 per cent fit. For him, it is a risk to come back before he has completely recovered.
The 27-year-old has started just four games this season, two coming in the Carabao Cup after being limited to just eight appearances in his debut campaign at the London Stadium.

Poor form and constant injuries have heavily impacted Wilshere’s Hammers career for the worse, and fans are starting to show frustration at his lack of game time for the salary he’s earning.
Even if he was fit enough to feature, his current form doesn’t warrant a starting place, with Declan Rice, Mark Noble and Manuel Lanzini all central players above him in the pecking order.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see Wilshere moved on either in January or next summer – with his contract not expiring until the end of the 2020-21 season.
