# Joelinton set to be dropped by Newcastle for weekend visit

Things haven’t gone smoothly for Newcastle United’s club-record signing Joelinton since joining from Hoffenheim in July.

He’s scored just once with a minuscule six shots on target in 10 Premier League appearances and has simply looked like the best of an ineffective bunch in terms of Steve Bruce’s striker options.

According to the [Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/10/28/newcastle-united-looking-protect-lonely-joelinton-steve-bruce/), there is a real chance the £40million summer arrival will be taken out of the starting line-up against West Ham in order to protect him.

The report claims there is a genuine sympathy for Joelinton after moving to the country on his own aged 23 and Bruce’s efforts to help him adapt have, so far, not shown.

### Read West Ham verdict

Although he hasn’t looked like much of a threat this season, West Ham fans should be relieved if he is to be dropped at the London Stadium.

Currently, the Magpies back-up option is Yoshinori Muto who has been similarly uninspiring since his arrival in England.

If the West Ham defence are at their best this weekend, it’s difficult to see where the visitors’ goals are going to come from which should help Manuel Pellegrini’s men return to winning ways.

It’d be typical West Ham if Joelinton was to make an impact though.
