Sean Longstaff will miss Newcastle United’s visit to the London Stadium this weekend, but some West Ham United fans are wary of his potential replacement in the form of former Liverpool star Jonjo Shelvey.
The 21-year-old midfielder saw red in Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers at St. James’ Park and now faces a suspension.
Longstaff’s absence could see Shelvey, a player previously linked with West Ham, start for Steve Bruce’s side.
More Hammers fans seem concerned about Shelvey’s quality than Longstaff’s, despite the 27-year-old playing just five minutes in Newcastle’s last four Premier League games…

When he’s in the mood, Shelvey can act as an effective creative outlet and has the ability to find passes Longstaff can’t.
It’s bound to be a tough game regardless of who replaces the young midfielder, but you’d imagine the Hammers will be able to return to winning ways.
