# Hammers fans slam Allardyce for take on Xhaka debacle

Plenty of West Ham United fans have slammed Sam Allardyce for his comments on the current debacle at Arsenal involving Granit Xhaka following the 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.

The Gunners fumbled a two-goal lead at the Emirates before Xhaka was substituted to a chorus of sarcastic cheers from the home fans, leading to him throwing the captain’s armband and cupping his ears.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Allardyce explained how he would handle the situation:

> Without any question of doubt you’d discipline Xhaka. Gesticulating to the fans is one thing you cannot do. It’s irresponsible. He has to go out in the next game and perform like never before.

The former West Ham manager’s comments somewhat reminded these supporters of a similar situation against Hull City in 2014…

### Read West Ham’s verdict

It’s bound to be hard for some fans to forget that 2-1 win against Hull five years ago.

Despite playing against 10 men for over an hour, West Ham couldn’t take control of the game which led to frustrated spectators in the stands aiming boos at the players.

Allardyce responded by cupping his ear to those publicising their discontent… the exact same thing he’s just criticised Xhaka for.

There’s certainly a hint of hypocrisy in this.
