West Ham United fans worrying about Andy Carroll returning to the London Stadium with Newcastle United and performing like he’s in his prime can rest easy because it doesn’t look like he’ll be involved.
According to the Evening Standard, Carroll looks set to miss what would’ve been a return to East London this weekend following another injury setback.
The 30-year-old striker scored 34 goals in 142 appearances for West Ham but was released in the summer before rejoining his old club.
He’s said to have damaged his groin against Chelsea last weekend and is now facing a battle for fitness ahead of a big game for both sides.

For the £15million paid for him in 2013, Carroll’s contribution for the Hammers wasn’t one to be shunned at all and it’s a shame he’ll miss the reunion with his old team-mates.
It’s likely to be good news for West Ham though, with the towering frontman capable of causing any defence problems on his day, boasting physicality and a strong aerial presence.
Manuel Pellegrini’s men must return to winning ways on the back of a five-match winless run before they start sloping down the Premier League table ahead of the busy winter period.
