West Ham United have confirmed the signing of former Manchester United academy star Ademipo Odubeko.
Odubeko left Manchester United at the end of last season following his contract expiration, despite the Red Devils’ best efforts to try and keep him at the club.
The Republic of Ireland U17 international scored 35 goals for the Manchester club’s academy side last year.
Odubeko, who will join up with the Hammers’ Under-18 side, said:
It’s a really exciting day. I’ve been waiting for this move for a while, so I’m looking forward to getting started.
West Ham is a club with a lot of history behind it. It promotes its young players, so it’s a great opportunity for me to develop my game and help the team.
I’m looking forward to moving to London – it’ll be a little different to Manchester, so it’s an exciting challenge.
A good catch by the Hammers?

Definitely. Odubeko was subject to interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, such as Juventus, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
He’s certainly not the finished article yet, but he has been tipped to have a very bright future and the Hammers may have just secured one of the world’s best young talents.
United were desperate to keep him and their loss has become West Ham’s gain. Now it’s time to keep an eye out for his form for the youth side.
