Crystal Palace and West Ham United have both been linked with a move for Inter Milan striker Gabriel Barbosa in recent history, but it seems like his new home is now set in stone.
‘Gabigol’ has shone on loan at homeland club Flamengo this season, scoring 24 goals and providing five assists in 30 games.
According to Fox Sports Brazil, the 23-year-old looks set to join the club permanently from Inter after a seemingly bargain £19million fee has been agreed.
READ WEST HAM’S VERDICT
Things haven’t worked out in Europe for Barbosa but he’s been in unbelievable form for Flamengo and looks well worth the hype.
His goalscoring record in Brazil is impeccable for such a young star so Flamengo look to have got themselves a coup.
This update shouldn’t really bother West Ham fans that much with Sebastien Haller expected to lead the line for years to come.
The Hammers are in need of a back-up option to go alongside Albian Ajeti, but Barbosa probably wouldn’t have been happy with that.
Manuel Pellegrini looks certain to stick with his sole striker system in the long-term, so there should be doubt about the actual truth of the initial reports because it’d be a strange one.
