Robinson heaps praise on Roberto after Everton display
Former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paul Robinson has spoken very highly of Roberto after his display in West Ham United’s 2-0 defeat at Everton on Saturday.
The Hammers were disappointing at Goodison Park, but Roberto made a string of key saves to keep the score low and has subsequently been the subject of praise from pundits and supports alike.
Speaking to Football Insider, Robinson seemed blown away by the experienced Spaniard’s impressive antics in between the sticks:
He was very good as for goalkeepers who don’t play, it’s a hard shift having to sit there and watch every week. He’s been given an opportunity and I thought he was excellent in what was a disappointing West Ham performance and one I didn’t see coming as I really expected them to cause Everton problems.

Roberto’s saves were impressive but he should’ve kept out the first goal which ultimately sent Everton on their way to victory.
There’s no point in getting ahead of ourselves when pouring Roberto with praise, but hopefully, he’ll grow in confidence and quality as he continues to deputise for Lukasz Fabianski.
A clean sheet against Sheffield United on Saturday would go a long way in started the right way.
