Former Manchester City right-back Danny Mills has hailed his counterpart – in that aspect – Pablo Zabaleta as a ‘fantastic player’ but doesn’t think he’ll be getting in the West Ham United team anytime soon.

Ryan Fredericks had an afternoon to forget in the 2-0 defeat at Everton last weekend, which led to calls from many fans to drop him against Sheffield United on Saturday.

Speaking to Football Insider, Mills doesn’t believe that’s on the cards though, claiming that there won’t be many changes made to the toothless side at Goodison Park:

Zab’s a fantastic player but he’s not getting any younger, is he? He’s 34 now, vast experience. I think they will stick with Fredericks for now. There’s no reason, one bad game, it wasn’t just one particular player, the whole team, none of them played particularly well. It’s difficult to pin it on one person’s performance so West Ham won’t change dramatically for the next game.

I couldn’t agree more with Mills; Pellegrini must stick with Fredericks.

Yes, he did he a poor game against Everton but it wouldn’t be harsh to say the whole West Ham team did.

The Sheffield United game presents a huge opportunity for Pellegrini’s first-choice players to put on a show at the London Stadium and get back to winning ways.

Who should start against Sheffield United?

Pablo Zabaleta

Ryan Fredericks
