Josh Cullen has admitted he can’t see his future at Charlton Athletic amid talk of West Ham United recalling him from his loan in January.
The 23-year-old helped Charlton gain promotion from League One last season and has carried his form over into the Championship, which has seen him earn plenty of plaudits.
Speaking to London News Online, cited by Forever West Ham, he insisted his focus is on securing a long-term future with the Hammers, even though anything can happen in football:
I don’t know [about a permanent Charlton move]. I can’t see my future there because I’m still on loan and I’m contracted to West Ham but football’s a strange game and you never know what’s going to happen. The plan has always been to get to the West Ham first team but things happen in football. Who knows?

Cullen’s form for the Addicks can’t go unnoticed and many West Ham fans are desperate to see him challenge Declan Rice for a first-team place.
With Manuel Pellegrini’s lack of midfield depth starting to show, January could be a perfect time for him to break into the squad and show what he’s worth in the Premier League.
It’s great to hear his mind is set on committing his future at the London Stadium, so hopefully the club can tie Cullen down to a new deal and go from there.
