Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol has tipped Manchester United to sign both Declan Rice and Leicester City ace James Maddison because they both fit Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s criteria.
Both players have been previously linked with moves to Old Trafford and as they continue to impress in the Premier League, speculation doesn’t seem to be going away.
Speaking to ESPN, Nicol believes the England pair will be targeted by Man United next summer and their respective clubs could be willing to let them leave:
West Ham will take a large amount of money [for Rice] and Leicester, unless they finish in the top three, will let [Maddison] go. I think they’re both part of what I think this coming summer, I think there’s no question Manchester United will be trying to sign these two guys. Ole’s said that he’s looking to build the youth and would certainly like some home-based guys, and these two 100% fit the bill.

It’s very unlikely either deal would go through in January, however.
Rice has stated on more than one occasion that he’s just signed a new deal with West Ham and is happy to continue his development at the London Stadium.
Meanwhile, James Maddison has been central to Leicester’s eye-catching start to the campaign and it’d be baffling to see Brendan Rodgers allow him to depart midway through.
Both are players you could see fitting in at Old Trafford though, but supporters shouldn’t be worried about anything happening soon.
