Former Manchester United youth talent Mipo Odubeko has told West Ham United that he wants to join them ahead of several heavyweight suitors around Europe.

According to Football Insider, a deal for the 16-year-old is all-but done and it’s only a matter of time before he’s announced as a West Ham player.

The prolific striker rejected multiple contract offers from Man United before becoming a free agent in the summer and he’s been sent proposals by Atletico Madrid and Juventus since.

He netted an astonishing 35 goals for United’s youth sides last season and now the Republic of Ireland Under-17 international will arrive at the London Stadium eyeing a first-team chance.

To say Odubeko has, first of all, decided to leave the world’s biggest club Man United before opting for West Ham over the likes of Atletico and Juventus is remarkable, but also a good sign.

The Hammers have clearly shown him that there’s a path to the first-team at the London Stadium and it takes a driven player to reject bigger opportunities for a bigger chance to play football.

This is an exciting acquisition and hopefully, he’ll quickly start showing the goalscoring form he achieved at United in East London.
