Hammers fans fire back at O’Hara over Rice criticism

Former Tottenham Hotspur star Jamie O’Hara has been very open about his thoughts on Declan Rice and recently labelled the West Ham United midfielder as ‘overrated’.

Speaking to talkSPORT, he claimed Rice’s involvement with Gareth Southgate’s youthful England set-up has caused his praise to be ‘over the top’, amid talk that suitors may have to pay up to £100million for his services.

As you’d expect, plenty of West Ham fans were quick to defend the 20-year-old on social media by targeting O’Hara with criticism…

Read West Ham’s verdict

Some would argue those valuing Rice at £100m are overrating him massively, but that doesn’t mean he’s getting hyped up for no reason.

The way he’s become an important part of Gareth Southgate and Manuel Pellegrini’s plans in such a short amount of time is superb.

If the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United come in for Rice next summer, I don’t necessarily think West Ham will be asking for £100m.

However, his nationality and age play a big role in his general praise and he certainly won’t come cheap if he is sold in the near future.
